I want to surprise my fiance with an all inclusive vacation to somewhere tropical. I am hoping that you all could give me some ideas, maybe the best places you have been, the cheapest time of year to travel, and the best website to book it on?

Before I join the "real world," I would like to go to Mexico just once. I speak almost fluent Spanish so I know I can communicate and get good deals on things. I would like to go to Taxco and possibly to Acapulco since they are only about 2 hours apart (I think). Are there any websites out there where I can find find a family to host me in their home for a week or 2?

I am a college student on a very tight budget. I am not opposed to a youth hostel or a B&B. Any suggestions/ideas?

BTW-I am not travelling until Spring or Fall 2008.

My family and I usually take a trip once a year to our beach house, but this year, sadly, my family members can’t go–each for one reason or another. A few of my friends were going to ride down with me, but with it being 4th of July weekend and short notice, I just can’t find anyone else to go. Part of me thinks it would be dangerous because of my age, sex, and particularly because of 4th of July and traveling six hours alone on the hwy during the traffic–not to mention the money I could save! On the other hand, I am a very independent person, and part of me wants to go. I’ve never traveled alone, and I feel like this would give me an opportunity to get away from work and just relax for a while. I’m in the process of writing a book, and I think I could get a lot done on the beach alone for 2 days. What’s everyone’s opinion?
